A New Beginning...
Here I am once again blogging. This time is all about new beginnings. This blog is in memory of my mother who passed away 11 years ago from congestive heart failure. One thing you might not have known about her is that she loved her garden. It was her pride and joy. Planting seeds and seeing flowers bloom was such a feeling of satisfaction for her. I got the idea for this blog because of that fact. She would encourage me in many ways. One quote that she used on occasion was "Bloom Where You Are Planted" It meant that wherever you may be placed in life you can grow and change. Growth and change can be painful, but it's paramount that the 2 coincide with one another. Without that happening, you may remain stagnant and end up going nowhere.
I want this to be a place where you can come and be encouraged. As you can see from my description, I live with 2 challenges. My mother was my greatest cheerleader. She was the only person in our family who got my living with RA. She was also my caregiver after my craniotomy. The roles were reversed when she became ill and I became her caregiver, when it came to making decisions about her health. I have a lot of experience in this area, so it was decided by other family members, that this would be my capacity.
While my mother was dying, she asked me to make a promise to her. It was simply to live my life and grab what I want. That really meant not being so afraid to try new things. She wanted me to be happy and okay. She would share with the hospice caregivers that she was most concerned about me and how I would handle her passing. It could have destroyed me, but I didn't allow that to happen. I miss her every day, but that promise I made is always at the back of my mind. So here is only the beginning of a new venture all about growth. I invite you to bloom where you are planted. I would love to hear your stories.
